Day 1: ARRIVAL IN KITTILÄ - LEVI

Day 2: REEINDEER SAFARI IN YLLÄS – HAPARANDA

Your tour leader who will accompany and guide you through next days of your trip is awaiting you at the reception of your hotel, exited to meet you.

After a short tour introduction, depart for your first adventure. Enjoy a traditional reindeer ride through an old, snow-covered forest with reindeer herder is an unforgettable experience. After the 2-kilometer ride, you will sit down in a warm Lappish tepee to drink coffee and enjoy some pancakes while listening to stories about reindeer herding by a man who has spent his whole life with reindeers. There will be also some time for taking pictures before heading back.

You will then drive south and cross the border between Finland and Sweden to reach Haparanda.

Optional afternoon activity: Learn how to bake traditional gingerbread cookies. Together we bake fanciful shapes of gingerbread dough. After the oven, we decorate the figures with icing and sprinkles. Of course, we have to taste it!

Day 3: DAY AT LEISURE – OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

Today you have plenty of time to spoil yourself by choosing some of the most exciting activities or just relax and stroll around Haparanda and her sister town Tornio located on the Finnish side of the border.

The most unique activity you can choose today, it is definitely an OPTIONAL trip to Kemi to experience Sampo Icebreaker Cruise.
Enjoy an unforgettable sea, snow and ice adventure on a cruise over the frozen Gulf of Bothnia. Let the magical moments in arctic nature blow you away. Witness the arctic sunrise on a morning cruise or experience the elusive blue moment as the sun starts to set in the evening. Take it easy and enjoy the ride through the icy waters. Feel the arctic freedom on the deck or relax in the warm indoors sipping hot beverages in Icebreaker Bar. Before returning to the port, the ship will make a one-hour stop to enable each visitor to participate in the ice floating event, comfortably dressed in survival suits. The crew gives a presentation of the ship, you can wander around the vessel and get to know all the nooks and crannies all the way from the Captain's bridge to the engine rooms. Our guides are there to help you and provide detailed information about the ship. Free entrance to the Kemi SnowCastle on the day is included.
Alternatively, you can opt for many other activities such as safaris with snowmobiles, huskies or an ice-fishing trip.

Day 4: RANUA WILDLIFE PARK & AURORA PICNIC – ROVANIEMI

This morning we drive to Ranua to visit the northernmost wildlife park in the world. Your guide will take you on a brisk walk outdoors to admire the Arctic wildlife in their genuine wilderness setting. Elk, reindeer, wolverines, arctic fox and of course the impressive polar bear can be easily spotted here. Lunch included at the park.

We will then drive to Rovaniemi, the capital city of the Finnish Lapland and official hometown of Santa Claus and in the evening, we will head out of the city in a nice spot to look at the sky. There will be hot drinks and we will grill sausages. Snowshoes will be on the spot and everyone can try them and have fun! We will share some nice moment around the fire, with stories about Lapland. If the sky is clear we have chance to observe the Aurora. If we are not lucky to see aurora, we will anyway share a nice evening by the fire and learn more about the Lappish culture.

Day 5: SANTA CLAUS VILLAGE IN ROVANIEMI – INARI

Start the day with immediately immersing you into the magic of the Santa Claus Village located on the Arctic Circle. There will be some free time for you to explore the village and meet the local star, the Santa Claus, in his official home. You can also visit the Santa's post office to send a letter to yourself or a loved one, with the official stamp of Santa. Then wander around the various souvenir shops and enjoy the magic atmosphere in the village.

In the afternoon, we depart towards north, reaching Inari where you can choose to do an Optional visit to the Sami Siida Museum to learn more about the indigenous people of Lapland and their fascinating history, culture and traditions.

Day 6: VISIT TO THE SNOWHOTEL – KIRKENES

Early departure towards the small town of Kirkenes, located north east in Northern Norway, close to the Russian border. Kirkenes is known as the capital of the Barents Region and the gateway to the east. Here we will visit the Snowhotel, built from scratch every year, which is open between December and April. Even though the temperature inside is a constant -4 °C, the beds are warm and comfortable with reindeer hide. We will enjoy a local Welcome Drink (non-alcoholic) at the Ice Bar and have some free time to explore the hotel and take some pictures.

OPTIONAL KING CRAB SAFARI: The King crab is a fascinating creature, the same species as the Alaskan king crab, which you may have seen being caught by dauntless fishermen on tv. We aim to give you the best King crab fishing adventure. We will take you out on the fjord ice by snowmobile and sleigh to find the great beast. You will step out on the frozen fjord and help the fisherman pull the traps from the deep through the hole in the ice. Maybe the northern lights will flicker across the sky as you get a picture taken with the biggest catch of the tour? It would not be uncommon, as every day is a potential aurora day in the north.

The journey will culminate in a warm, rustic farmhouse restaurant by the fjord, where you will enjoy a feast, served the Norwegian way - fresh, juicy and irresistible!

Day 7: KIRKENES - TROMSØ

Enjoy the last moments in Kirkenes before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Tromsø (flight not included in the package, possible to book through V.O.S, please see details in the supplement part of the offer).

Arrival to Tromsø, the Arctic Capital! Located at 69 degrees north - Tromsø is 320 km above the Arctic Circle. Transfer to your hotel & check in.

Day 8: HUSKY SAFARI & SOMMARØY ISLAND

After breakfast, enjoy an exciting dog sledding adventure in scenic surroundings. Just a 40-minute drive from Tromsø city center, you will discover our Husky Farm, beautifully situated in the Arctic valley landscape. The view of the Lyngen Alps combined with the fjords is amazing, making this safari a genuine North Norwegian Arctic Experience.

You will be greeted by 120 happy Alaskan Huskies, waiting for you to run and cuddle! Drive your own team of dogs through the scenic landscape. We provide warm thermal suits, winter boots and gloves to keep you warm during the dog sledding adventure.

After a short explanation on how to handle the dogs and sleds, you will set off in pairs. One will be the “musher” (driver) and the other sits in the sled. You swap places during the trip.

The huskies love running on the hilly tracks and wilderness of Breivikeidet valley, but you need to be part of the team and help them up the hills. It’s a fun experience, but also a physical workout.

In the afternoon, we will drive to Sommarøy Island, where pure arctic landscapes are waiting for us.

Day 9: SOMMARØY VILLAGE PANORAMIC TOUR & AURORA CAMPFIRE

We start the day with a short panoramic walk of Sommarøy. With its 300 inhabitants, Sommarøy is one of the busiest fishing villages in the county of Troms region. The views from Sommarøy Island are impressive and together with your tour leader you will get to know more about the history and fishing traditions of the village.

Rest of the morning and afternoon free for Optional activities.

Choose between a 2-hour Kayak Tour in the crystal-clear waters of Sommarøy Archipelago (EUR 120 p.p.), or a 2 hour Snowshoe Hiking Tour including a visit to a unique local café where you will be served hot drinks and a cake (EUR 125 p.p.). Or what about a 1-hour Sea Eagle Safari by RIB or classic boat? The archipelago of Sommarøy hosts a large colony of sea eagles year-round. On this guided tour we take you out in our RIB or boat depending on group size and search the islands and cliffs for this majestic bird. (EUR 99 p.p.)

After dinner, it will be time for another amazing activity included in your package, a 2 hour and half Aurora Campfire Tour. The area around Sommarøy is a great spot to search for the northern lights. On desolate beaches free from light pollution. With the sound of arctic waves crashing ashore you are guaranteed a spectacular evening if the skies are clear and the auroras show themselves.

With a guide we suit up and head out to a secluded spot and get the fire going to stay warm while waiting for the green lady to appear, hopefully in all her colours. As we wait we enjoy roasting sausages and marshmallows over the fire and enjoy a cup of hot coffee or chocolate.

Day 10: REINDEER SAFARI & AFTERNOON FREE FOR OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

In the morning, transfer back to Tromsø.

In the evening, we strongly recommend one of the most popular and sustainable tours in Tromsø: the Northern Lights Cuisine Cruise with a silent with a silent hybrid-electric ship. During this 3 hours tour you will board this elegant and environment friendly boat to cruise in silence and darkness around the Tromsø Island, enjoy a 3-courses arctic tapas dinner and - if you’re lucky – the Northern Lights above.
